Bryan Randa

Growing up in the fields of Iowa, Bryan developed a love and curiosity for nature and its intricacy’s at an early age. Whether it was collecting little critters on the farm or interesting stones along the river walks, Bryan was intrigued by the natural world surrounding him. Beginning with interest in pencil drawings and clay sculpture he went onto a graphic design program at regional college, soon realizing he needed to be more hands on. Bryan then ventured out to Massachusetts in quest of a career in the arts.

Arriving in Massachusetts Bryan began his search for a potter, to assist and learn the skills of the trade. Not knowing of glassblowing and its deep history in the area Bryan accidentally came upon the Sandwich Glass Museum in 2004. Here he became more familiar with the glass artists in the area. He was pointed in the direction of McDermott Glass Studio in Sandwich where he developed the age old trade of glassblowing under an intense apprenticeship with David McDermott and Yukimi Matsumoto.

Spending the next decade refining glass techniques and managing his growing business , Bryan has since moved on to build his own glass studios and is focused on his own sculptural glass work.

As a glass artist Bryan Randa works within two worlds of glass making. One of which is lamp working, with this he creates beautiful glass creatures of the ocean and of the garden at his peaceful studio in the woods of Pocasset .

The other is off hand glass blowing in a larger scale. Using this technique he makes a variety of functional vessels and sculptures of colorful glass.Today Bryan and his wife Jess are working as independent artists, Bryan making glass and Jessie making jewelry in their home studios
