Fine Contemporary Art Glass
Vladimir Klein was born on the 6 of March 1950 in Komárno, Slovakia. He studied at the glass making school in Kamenicky Senov and then at the Academy of Arts and Design in Prague under Stanislav Libenskỳ. He was a teacher for several years and is now still giving lectures about glass. He was also a designer for Bohemia Crystalex Trading, Czech Republic, for nine years. He received many awards for his glass sculptures, the most recent one being the Erste Preis, Glasplastik und Garten, Munster in 2004.
He is specialized in monumental engraved coloured glass sculptures using an unconventional coldworking method similar to stone carving. With a chisel and hammer, he chips away the glass to create pieces that exploit the material’s optical qualities.
He is represented in several collections in Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Japan, China and USA.
